23 lessons I have learned throughout my 23 years of life (part 2)

As promised here is part two of the 2 part blog series, ’23 lessons I have learned throughout my 23 years of life.’ 12. Give back. We are called to be servants of the Lord. Matthew 25: 37- 40 reads, “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of…

23 lessons I have learned throughout my 23 years of life (part 1)

My 23rd birthday has already come and gone but I still wanted to share a few lessons I have learned throughout 23 years. Majority of these are from the age of 18 onward but they are lessons learnt nonetheless. The situations in which these lessons were acquired weren’t always pleasant but I have made it a point of duty to always take the positive out of every situation. I give thanks to God for all He has done, is doing, and will do for me. If you can take these lessons and apply them to your life, skipping the pain and regret, then count yourself a blessed soul. Okay, without…

Why you need a vision board and how to use it

Vision is the art of seeing (and feeling) what is impossible to others. – Jonathan Swift.     How to create a vision board First and foremost, what is a vision board? A vision board is an arrangement of images that represents the person you’d like to be, the things you’d like to do and accomplish in life. It is, essentially, a visual representation of your life goals. You can get all crafty and make a physical vision board with magazine cut outs and printed pictures or you may choose to create a Pinterest board and pin images specific to your vision of your future.     Why create…

    Tick Tock

Has time ever stopped for you? It certainly has not for me. Yet, we sit around as if it does while it passes us by. Time waits for no one so why wait on time? By this I am referring to waiting on the right moment. It is never, majority of the time, the right moment. Procrastination rarely works out in our favor. In fact, it makes us more aware of the time that is passing by. Don’t make it a habit to put off today’s work for tomorrow. Tomorrow will come bearing it’s own challenges and task load.  When your work load piles up, you tend to find a…

Bible in a year challenge: My testimony

I did the Bible in a year challenge for the very first time last year. It took me 226 days to finish. I started my challenge on the 25th of April  and completed it on the 7th of December, 2017. My life was a bit rocky at the time and it would often times leave me impoverished. I needed to do something different, after all everything else was failing or only comforted me temporarily. Two beautiful souls, Soy (blog link here) and Naomi (blog link here), that I am proud to call friends, Godly friends, encouraged me here and there to reach out to God and recommit my walk. I…

    A letter of reflection

Dear Me of 2017, What a year! I am so proud of you girly. You’ve come a long way. I’ve seen where you struggled and where you persevered. It’s been a bumpy ride, a journey to remember. Let’s start with January. You started the new year in the wrong atmosphere and with the wrong mindset. It’s okay, you were trying to find yourself. You went to school almost every single day not of a sound mind, just helping to fill a lecture theatre. February rolled around and you hit the 22 year milestone, marking the start of your 23rd year of life. You finally excluded the negative people out of…

    The Comeback

Pow! The Tropical Tide is back. Being a girl boss in school can get so overwhelming. One thing I’ve learnt is that despite what you might be going through, the world continues whether you show up or not. In that case, I choose to make my contribution now when I have the energy and strength to do so. Being under the weather, experiencing writer’s block, and having the world of assignments and exams (still ongoing) can really demotivate a woman. Even if that woman thrives off of being an encourager and motivator, sometimes she herself needs a little motivation. God is good nonetheless. How does one conquer these tides of…
