    Say Yes

Happy new year everyone. I hope that you are all sticking to your new year’s resolutions and are working toward your goals. I just want to encourage everyone to be bold and say yes in 2018. This year is giving a vibe of greatness. Greatness in the sense that dreams are going to come through, goals are going to be accomplished, habits are going to be formed while others are being broken, breakthroughs, favor, and the entire works. This greatness, however, is going to require a lot of hard work and dedication. I propose a challenge to one and all to really be the best versions of yourselves this year.…

    A letter of reflection

Dear Me of 2017, What a year! I am so proud of you girly. You’ve come a long way. I’ve seen where you struggled and where you persevered. It’s been a bumpy ride, a journey to remember. Let’s start with January. You started the new year in the wrong atmosphere and with the wrong mindset. It’s okay, you were trying to find yourself. You went to school almost every single day not of a sound mind, just helping to fill a lecture theatre. February rolled around and you hit the 22 year milestone, marking the start of your 23rd year of life. You finally excluded the negative people out of…

    The Comeback

Pow! The Tropical Tide is back. Being a girl boss in school can get so overwhelming. One thing I’ve learnt is that despite what you might be going through, the world continues whether you show up or not. In that case, I choose to make my contribution now when I have the energy and strength to do so. Being under the weather, experiencing writer’s block, and having the world of assignments and exams (still ongoing) can really demotivate a woman. Even if that woman thrives off of being an encourager and motivator, sometimes she herself needs a little motivation. God is good nonetheless. How does one conquer these tides of…

    Truth is…

Communion is taken every Sunday at the church I attend. There is a small exhortation given before the communion is shared. Every Sunday, without fail, the minister would make it clear not to take part in the communion unless you had a saving knowledge of Christ. What he meant by this is that you must have repented of your sins and you are taking up your cross daily to walk with the Lord. To not only be a hearer but also a doer. Being a doer calls for you to follow every command laid out in the Bible and not just the ones that suit your lifestyle. Saying that you…

    Healthy Eats

I often catch myself dancing randomly and most times it’s because I’m eating. I LOVE food! I’m sure you guys can relate.  Eating healthier is a goal that majority of us set for ourselves but struggle to accomplish. I was the type of person to read health blogs, search for healthy meal ideas on Instagram, Pinterest, etc., and subscribe to many vegan youtubers for inspiration. I was a hearer but not a doer. I finally acted. I went on a 21-day diet that consisted of only plant based foods with no added sugar. Let me just say, BEST DECISION EVER! I lost a few pounds and I also got really…

    How to Manage your Money

Money, money, money, moneey, MONEY! I enjoy having the money to get the things that I need and to pay the bills, don’t you? A lot of the time we find that we aren’t effective in getting much done with our money. Why? What do you spend on often? Collect all receipts for a week to a month and evaluate how much you spend on average on different items. It is not necessarily because you don’t have enough but rather the way you manage it. In today’s blog post I am going to share a few tips on how to manage your money. Also, at the end of this blog…

How to have an effective workout

In this blog post I am going to address the do’s and don’ts of working out. Being physically active plays a vital role in our health. It helps to prevent and alleviate certain chronic illnesses such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes. Working out also keeps your energy level up, boosts your endurance, and gives you a fit and healthy looking body. In order to have an effective workout, you need to do a few things. I took the liberty of grouping them into seven main steps to give you a better understanding of how to have an effective workout. Step #1: Set goals. Have a goal for your workout…

    Stay Hydrated

In my previous blog post on how to have a productive day, I mentioned drinking water as one of my top ten tips. Drinking water is super important. After all, our bodies are made up of approximately 70% water. We lose water so easily and so it is essential to put it back. Our bodies lose water when we sweat, cry, secrete mucus, pee, poop, eat, even breathe. Yes, breathe. So you see, it is crucial for our health to drink water because our bodies use it to carry out many major and daily functions. I know, I know, “drinking water is boring” or “it has no taste/flavor”. This blog post…
