Communion is taken every Sunday at the church I attend. There is a small exhortation given before the communion is shared. Every Sunday, without fail, the minister would make it clear not to take part in the communion unless you had a saving knowledge of Christ. What he meant by this is that you must have repented of your sins and you are taking up your cross daily to walk with the Lord. To not only be a hearer but also a doer. Being a doer calls for you to follow every command laid out in the Bible and not just the ones that suit your lifestyle. Saying that you believe won’t cut it. The devil believes in God, heck I’m sure the devil knows the Bible more than a lot of us. The difference is, the devil doesn’t obey the Bible. God’s grace and love is with us and so we are spirit led to obey the words of the Lord. Ecclesiastes 12: 13 says “fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” To know someone, you must form a relationship with them and to form that relationship communication is required. Reading your Bible and praying as often as possible is how you will communicate with God. For praying is how you speak to God and reading the Word is God speaking to you.
The fact of the matter is, all will face judgement on the day the Lord returns. If you are not prepared when He comes, the reality is that you will be cast in the eternal lake of fire. Matthew 25: 46 states “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
We are meant to only die once, which is when we put away this physical body. The eternal lake of fire wasn’t made for you. God went to prepare a place for us, He calls us to join Him in eternal life. However, if you have not repented and have not come to a saving knowledge of Christ, then a second death awaits you.
Revelation 20: 12-15 reads “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Many will come and try to tell you differently from what is in the Bible so by all means test every spirit. (see Matthew 7: 15-20) A good way to recognise these false prophets are by their fruit. The Word of God says that a bad tree can only bear bad fruit and a good tree can only bear good fruit.
If you do not do the will of God, you have not fulfilled your purpose and that means you never knew God. God’s response to this is that He never knew you either. (see Matthew 21-22) 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name, drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
It’s not enough to do good but to also preach the Word of God. If it were up to good works to get us into heaven then the first coming of Jesus Christ would’ve been irrelevant.
This is just a reminder for some, a wake-up call, but for others this might be the seed being planted. I pray that you will take heed before it is too late.
Father, I pray for the one reading this blog post that You will plant a seed in their life right now. Help them to believe in You and accept you as their personal Lord and Saviour, repenting of their sins and accepting the grace that will set them free. In Jesus name, amen.
Stay blessed lovelies.
