Healthy Eats

I often catch myself dancing randomly and most times it’s because I’m eating. I LOVE food! I’m sure you guys can relate.  Eating healthier is a goal that majority of us set for ourselves but struggle to accomplish. I was the type of person to read health blogs, search for healthy meal ideas on Instagram, Pinterest, etc., and subscribe to many vegan youtubers for inspiration. I was a hearer but not a doer. I finally acted. I went on a 21-day diet that consisted of only plant based foods with no added sugar. Let me just say, BEST DECISION EVER! I lost a few pounds and I also got really creative in preparing my meals. Do you know how good it feels to eat food that you enjoy knowing that it is actually good for your body? It’s an amazing feeling, if I do say so myself.

I won’t say that I am vegan but I eat a lot more whole foods and veggies. I have since eliminated majority of the refined sugars and animal products out of my diet as well. Now, when I go to the groceries, I read the labels more carefully before making a purchase. It is a relief to eat good, wholesome food and not have to worry about any tummy aches or excess fat.

Eating healthy is not as bad or as difficult as it may seem. I thought it would’ve been boring until I started to experiment. In this blog post I will share what I eat in a typical day along with the ingredients. This is just to give you an idea of how to enjoy a healthier diet. Enjoy.

 

Pre-workout meal

Banana berry smoothie. In this smoothie bowl are frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries, bananas, cranberries, raisins, chia-flax seed powder, and almond milk. On the side is a serving of watermelon cut into strips.

Breakfast/ post workout meal

Oatmeal. This meal consists of oatmeal (obviously), banana slices, unsweetened coconut shreds, dates, cranberries, cinnamon, and almond milk.

Lunch

Tofu scramble with garden salad. This was so delicious. Incorporated in this dish were extra firm tofu, avocado, lettuce, tomato, fried plantain, and seasonings to taste.

Dinner

Stuffed sweet potato. This sweet potato was stuffed with a stir fry mixture of green cabbage, okra, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

 

You can prepare healthier meal options that are enjoyable. Make healthier choices that will benefit your overall health in the long run. Enjoy lovelies.
